Cycling is banned in the town centre but not cars or vans (!) and access is poor as cycle routes stop on the edge or go down hostile roads. Much easier to go to Tesco at Oldings Corner instead. This also means it's easier to cycle to secondary school in Welwyn Garden City than in Hatfield, due to lack of joined up routes.
