I would much, much rather that they hit a reinforced concrete bridge than a squishy human being. This has several advantages.

First, hitting the squishy human being usually results in zero consequences to the truck driver and little damage to the truck. So hit and run (kill and run) driving is an unfortunate reality. But hitting the reinforced concrete bridge usually does severe damage to the truck. Not only preventing the truck driver from escaping, but incurring the displeasure of his employer. Particularly when said employer has to pay for the damage.

Secondly, it is difficult for the truck driver to victim-blame the bridge. SMIDSY tends not to work as an excuse. Very few truck drivers can get away with saying, "That bridge swerved right in front of my truck!"

So what we need is a lot more low bridges. They are an important safety measure to achieve the goal of removing bad truck drivers from the roads. Otherwise we would have to do things to achieve that goal such as suspend the drivers' licences of truck drivers that kill squishy human beings, and that would never do.Kevin Lovehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13186428862833389619noreply@blogger.com
